Forth Worth, TX – Last weekend, Strive Medical was a proud sponsor of the 10th Annual Spina Bifida Association of North Texas (SBANT) Walk-N-Roll Event. The fundraiser was held on September 7, 2019 at Burgers Lake in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Walk-N-Roll is a non-competitive event to raise awareness of spina bifida while celebrating the accomplishments of the spina bifida community.
The day consisted of a half mile walk (and roll) around the lake followed by a fun afternoon of swimming, live music, picnicking, and socialization. This is the 6th year that Strive Medical has sponsored this event. In total, the event raised over $38,000!
At the Walk-N-Roll, we got to speak to the wonderful Ellen Dibler. At 78 years old, Ellen is one of the oldest living people with spina bifida. We spoke to her about spina bifida in the 1940’s and how it was very overlooked by polio. She spoke to us about her struggles growing up with spina bifida and how she quickly learned to not let it define her. She is truly an inspiration and it was an honor to meet her and chat with her and her husband!
